12 Bore Purdey Side By Side Sidelock Ejector.
IN STOCK
Handsome and sturdy Beesley-action Purdey sidelock ejector game gun. Purdey no. 13025 was made in 1888. The fences reflect the change in engraving styles from the sculpted motif to the more modern floral style. The “self-opening” action has disc set strikers and an automatic safety. Stock and forearm are replacements made of highly figured French walnut. The original stock and forend comes with the shotgun. It was presumably restocked to fit a taller person. Gun weighs 6lb 11oz. The 28" nitro steel chopper lump barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. They are topped by a raised tapered game style rib. The rib is inscribed “J. Purdey & Sons, Audley House, South Audley Street, London, England”. Also "Made of Sir Joseph Whitworths Fluid Pressed Steel." The blueing is in very good condition and the bores are shiny. The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made of highly figured French walnut with a 1/8” horn buttplate and well-defined drop points. Stock dimensions are 14-7/8” including the 1/8” buttplate by 1/16” to 11/32”. Cast off for the righthanded shooter. PCC is engraved in the gold escutcheon. Comes with original Purdey Directions and instruction booklet from 1888 Serial numbered to the shotgun. Previously out of Adrian Mayberry's personal collection. A very nice example of one of the most high end shotguns available.
