WW2 ORIGINAL BRITISH MK 1 STEN GUN BAYONET
The STEN Mk. I bayonet was fabricated out of sheet steel and utilized a rod-style blade copied from the No. 4 Mk. II* socket bayonet. Although the STEN rod was of a larger diameter, this enabled the STEN Mk. I bayonet to use the existing Number 4 scabbard. Even more crude than the later Number 4 Mark 3 bayonet, the STEN Mk. I represented the ultimate in Second World War bayonet simplicity.
The firm of B. & J. Sippel Ltd. produced the sheet steel parts. Spikes marked with the lowercase ”L” were made by Laspee Engineering Co. of Isleworth. Most Sten bayonets were destroyed after WW2 and are highly replicated due to their rarity.
Nice original Sten Gun Bayonet maker marked on the spring and the barrel case to B. & J. SL. The spike is stamped with the lower case L
